Locomotive Warranty

   

Limited Warranty for Locomotive Models:

River Point Station (RPS) locomotive models are individually and fully tested prior to shipment, and RPS warrants that your new Locomotive is free from defects in material and workmanship at time of purchase. RPS further warrants that within ninety (90) days of purchase, if the Locomotive model is still in the possession of the original purchaser, RPS will repair or replace, at our option, any part or parts of the mechanism, which upon examination by us are found by us to be defective in material or workmanship, provided that the defective Locomotive is returned to our plant along with proof of purchase.

Product failures due to, but not limited to abuse, improper use and/or operation, misuse, mishandling, accidental damage, modifications, and improper maintenance are not covered by the warranty. Locomotives that have been disassembled, modified or repaired by anyone other than a factory trained technician are not protected by this warranty. Final determination of a factory defect and its cause is the sole discretion and responsibility of RPS. This warranty is not transferable.

What you must do in the event of a Warranty claim:

Should the locomotive fail during this warranty period, as the result of a defect in material or workmanship, you must return the model to us along with a letter explaining the problem, and a copy of your dated sales receipt. The receipt must clearly show where you bought the model, the SKU number and/or description, price, and date of purchase. Carefully pack the model in the original factory packaging, along with the applicable documentation, and enclose it in a larger shipping carton with sufficient cushioning to prevent shipping damage to the model, then, send it prepaid and insured to RPS.

 When communicating with us, be sure to include:

  • Your complete name and address; be sure to provide a physical address for UPS deliveries; UPS cannot deliver to P. O. Boxes.
  • Your daytime telephone number, including area code. If applicable, please include an email address.

When returning a Locomotive model for repair, please note:

  • If you have customized your Locomotive, either externally or internally, including but not limited to having added DCC or Sound decoders and hardware, your warranty may be void. Contact us before returning your model.
  • Be sure to pack the model carefully, then, send it prepaid and insured (keep a mailing receipt) to: River Point Station, Service Department, 115 Maple Street, Warwick, RI 02888-2130, USA. We are not responsible for models damaged or lost in transit!
  • Repairs are processed in the order in which they are received. Every effort will be made to return your model in about 6-weeks, but repairs are subject to availability of parts.
  • Non-warranty repairs will be processed upon receipt of customerís authorization and approval of the repair estimate, along with receipt of the applicable funds to cover the costs to repair and return the model. Models will be held for thirty (30) days; if arrangements to pay for the needed repairs are not made by customer within that period, the model will be disposed of unless you have sent us the applicable return shipping fee.
